Keeping your pet well by bringing down barriers to quality care: FAQs about money-saving Wellness Plans

Orange Park Animal Hospital at Oakleaf knows you only want the best for your pet. But our team also appreciates that the cost of care can be a significant source of stress and worry and can even stand between your pets and the services they need to be healthy and happy. So, when looking for a vet near me in Jacksonville, Florida, we encourage you to consider how our providers have removed many of these barriers to quality care. We urge you to look closer at our in-house Wellness Plans for puppies, kittens, adult cats, and dogs.

How do your wellness plans work?

Your enrolled pet’s preventative/wellness services are covered for an affordable membership fee. These largely include all the necessary services to keep your pet healthy and support their best quality of life. There is also a plan for every budget, as our valued clients can choose from “basic,” plus,” “standard,” and “intensive care” plans.

What are some of the services covered by the “basic” plan?

These plans are truly basic in name only, as they provide many diagnostic and preventative services. For puppies, covered offerings include the initial comprehensive exam, core vaccinations, parasite screening and deworming, screening for heartworm, an adult comprehensive exam, and unlimited free wellness visits. The services covered for enrolled kittens are the same as those for their puppy counterparts; we only test for feline leukemia and FIV instead of heartworm. For adult dogs and cats, members benefit from complimentary biannual wellness exams, core vaccinations, parasite screening and deworming, baseline diagnostics, and unlimited free office visits.

And what is the premium plan for young pets?

We provide the “plus” option for puppies and kittens. With this alternative, your pet can receive all the above-mentioned services, such as spaying and neutering, to manage the pet population and reduce the risk of diseases associated with “intact” dogs or cats.

What is the difference between the standard and intensive care plans (versus the basic care plan)?

The standard care plans for adult dogs and cats include a dental prophylaxis package. This is just the medical way of referring to the annual dental cleaning. The package covers lab work, anesthesia, fluoride, post-cleaning home care guidance, a follow-up visit, and the actual scaling and polishing. Standard plans also include a urinalysis package. The intensive care plan, our “VIP” (Very Important Pet) option, includes everything mentioned here and radiology services not limited to three views of X-rays based on your pet’s needs.

How can you help with any costs not covered by my plan?

In addition to covering the costs of these many services, any medical capabilities not covered by the plan may be generously discounted. These services range from a “Pawdicure” (nail trim) to anal gland expression to bathing and grooming. Every plan includes these discounts, from basic to intensive. Additionally, we offer interest-free financing through CareCredit®. There are many ways we at Orange Park Animal Hospital at Oakleaf strive to make quality veterinary care affordable to all, not as a privilege for the fortunate few.
